April is all about healing. There’s something deeply comforting about the idea of restoration, of wounds being tended to and hearts being made whole again. It’s a season of renewal, where the world around us begins to bloom, and we’re reminded that healing is possible, even after deep loss.
But when you’re grieving the loss of your child, the journey to healing can feel long and uncertain. Are you hopeful for the healing God promises, or do you feel stuck in a place where it seems out of reach?
No matter where you are in your grief journey, know that God sees you. He knows your pain, and He is with you, gently guiding you toward healing and wholeness, step by step.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
-Psalm 147:3

A Prayer for April:
God, Thank You for Your promise to heal our broken hearts. As we walk through this season of grief, we ask for Your gentle touch to bring restoration and peace. Help us to trust that You are at work, even in the middle of our pain. Surround us with Your love and strength as we lean into Your healing presence. Amen
Healing in April
Grief can feel like such a deep wound that it seems impossible to think of it ever healing. In these moments, it may be hard to imagine a time when you won’t feel pain. But just as spring brings healing to the earth, God promises to heal the brokenhearted and restore what’s been lost.
April, with its fresh blooms and new beginnings, serves as a reminder that healing is possible, even after the darkest of nights. God, in His perfect timing, brings restoration and renewal to every broken heart.
As we reflect on the theme of healing, it’s important to remember that this journey is not quick or easy. Healing takes time, and it requires patience, trust, and surrender to God’s loving care.
Even in the middle of your grief, there are moments where God is working quietly, healing your heart in ways you may not even see yet.
Here are a few practical ways to experience healing this month, as you lean on Jesus for strength. Each step, no matter how small, moves you closer to the healing He promises.
1. Allow Yourself to Feel. Healing begins when we allow ourselves to feel the emotions that come with grief. Don’t rush the process. Give yourself permission to cry, to feel sadness, or even anger. And then allow God to help you move through those emotions so we don’t camp out there in those feelings.
2. Create Space for Quiet Reflection. Spend a few minutes each day in quiet reflection, whether through prayer, journaling, or simply sitting in stillness. Let God’s peace fill you as you reflect on His promises and His presence with you in your grief.
3. Take Care of Your Body. Healing isn’t just emotional; it’s physical too. Nourish your body with healthy food, rest, and gentle movement. Caring for your physical health can support your emotional and spiritual well-being as you walk through your healing journey.
4. Lean Into Scripture. Reading God’s Word is a powerful way to invite healing into your life. Find verses that speak to your heart, like Psalm 147:3, and meditate on them. Let God’s promises of healing and restoration become your foundation of hope.
5. Practice Self-Compassion. Be kind to yourself. Healing is a process, and it’s okay to have good days and bad days. Treat yourself with the same grace and compassion that you would offer to a friend walking through grief. You are doing the best you can, and God is with you every step of the way.
