There’s something powerful about finding true rest in a world that never slows down. For grieving moms, the idea of rest can feel impossible. Your mind is overwhelmed, your heart is heavy, and your body is exhausted from carrying the weight of your loss.

Yet, Jesus invites us to rest in him. However, this isn’t the normal type of rest. It’s not one that simply means stopping our busy schedules and not doing anything.

The rest that comes from Jesus in our grief is about letting Him carry what feels too heavy for us. His rest is a place where our broken hearts can find healing, our weary souls can breathe again, and our mind can be calmed by His peace.

When life feels like a storm and grief feels never-ending, God whispers, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). This month’s scripture focus on “Rest in God” is a gentle reminder that you don’t have to hold everything together on your own.

Each verse is a personal invitation from Jesus to lay down your burdens and find comfort in His presence. Whether you take five minutes in the morning or before bed, these scriptures will help you remember that true rest is found in trusting Him, even in the middle of your grief.

“Be still and know that I am God”
-Psalm 46:10

A Prayer for June:

Jesus, My heart is weary and my soul feels heavy with grief. I need Your peace to quiet my thoughts and Your presence to give me rest. Teach me to let go of the burdens I’m carrying and to trust that You are holding me close. Help me to find moments of stillness where I can breathe in Your love and remember that You are my refuge. Thank You for being my safe place and my source of true rest.
Amen.

Rest in God in June

Rest often feels out of reach when your heart is heavy with grief and your mind won’t stop replaying memories or “what ifs.” But God’s rest isn’t about never feeling those emotions again, it’s about finding peace in His presence, in the middle of those moments.

If you’ve been longing for a deep breath for your soul, here are 5 simple and practical ways to experience true rest in God.

1. Start Your Day with a Quiet Moment

Before reaching for your phone or starting your to-do list, spend just 5 minutes in silence with God. Read one scripture, breathe deeply, and ask Him to guide your heart and thoughts for the day.

2. Create a “Prayer Pause” in Your Day

Set aside a small break during your day (maybe during lunch or before bed) to talk to God about what’s weighing you down. Hand over every worry, no matter how small, and allow His presence to give you peace.

3. Practice Sabbath Moments

You don’t have to wait for Sunday to find rest. Choose one hour during the week to turn off distractions, slow down, and simply be still. You can spend this time in prayer, journaling, or listening to worship music.

4. Reflect on His Promises

Write down 2–3 Bible verses about rest (like Matthew 11:28 or Psalm 23) and place them somewhere visible – on your mirror, fridge, or desk. Every time you see them, pause and remind yourself that God’s rest is for you right now.

5. Release the “Need to Do It All”

Pray over your to-do list and ask God what truly matters today. Let go of the pressure to accomplish everything and trust that He will give you strength for what’s needed, and rest for what can wait.
