Living Worthy of Our Calling

Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.

Ephesians 4:1

Sitting outside in my screened in porch.

The birds chirping. The breeze gently blowing the leaves in the tree.

It is so peaceful.

This is the place I love to meet with Jesus.

It’s our place.

Do you have a specific place that you love to go to connect with Jesus? To escape the craziness of the world in all of its chaos and despair? To connect with Jesus and feel his peace washing over you the moment you make that connection with his heart?

I know what you’re thinking.

Courtney, what does this have to do with living worthy of our calling?

Well let me tell you.

This spot is the spot where Jesus drops some major truth bombs into my spirit.

And one morning, I was reading Ephesians and when I read this verse I had to stop.

“Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”

I literally put the Bible down and looked up into the blue sky.

Because you see my friends, Jesus has called me.
He’s called you.

If you have breath, you have a purpose and a calling that he wants you to fulfill.

Each calling looks different.

Some are called to be preachers.
Some are called to be prophets.
Worship leaders.
Nursery workers.
Business men.
Stay at home mamas.
Working mamas.
Teachers.
Volunteers at Children’s Hospital.

It doesn’t have to be done in the church building.

And I dare to say the most important work we do is outside of those walls.

So here’s the thing – this calling. The one that you know Jesus has called you to…

Are you living worthy of your calling?
Are you living worthy of all those lives you’re reaching?
Are you living worthy of those kids you’re raising?

It doesn’t matter if it’s on a stage or in the kitchen washing dishes, are you walking in a manner worthy of that calling?

It hit me hard.

Do my daily actions measure up to the calling I’m walking in?

It’s definitely something to ponder.
