Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
Matthew 8:23-26
This storm wasn’t just any storm. It was a furious storm.

Have you ever had storms like that in your life? A storm that causes the waves to sweep over you. To make you feel like you’re drowning. To cause you to think “There’s no way I can make it out alive.”
This was one of those storms for Jesus and the disciples.
And the disciples were freaking.out.
Honestly….I would have been freaking out too.
But what was Jesus doing?
He was sleeping.
He had such utter peace and calm that even when the storm was raging, he was able to sleep.
And friends, we have access to that peace. The peace that will allow us to look at the storm and not be worried or overwhelmed.
So how? How do we gain access to that peace?
Through one man.
Jesus.
He’s the only way you can make it through hard times in this life.
Lean on him.
Let him carry you.
Let him give you his peace even when the storms of this life are raging.

I’ve experienced that level of peace before and it absolutely doesn’t make sense. To be able to have peace in the times when you should be falling apart.
That’s what I felt during Sam’s funeral. I could literally feel Jesus holding me up and carrying me on his peace. That’s the only way I was able to make it through that day and everything that came with it.

And you can have that same level of peace for whatever storm you’re facing in this life.
